Why?
I quickly whiped out this page in reaction to the current political situation. Expect issues. I also want someplace where I can just write whatever I want and a third party doesn't control it.

The world of free software is now experiencing a huge wave of uncertainty, which is caused by California's law that'll go into effect starting Jan 1st 2027, as well as the Colorado's similar proposed law. These laws are very frustrating and shouldn't exist, because they are either completely ignoring the FOSS community, or purposefully trying to destroy it.
There are many great open source projects and some of them are operating systems, most notably Linux distributions and the BSDs (i know there are more, but these are the major ones.)
The lawmakers clearly don't understand tech and i think this is bad, because they then make stupid decisions that piss everyone off. They clearly didn't think about the devs that do things as their side projects and can't afford to comply with the law, because, duh, they have a life and can't afford not to comply with the law if they're charged thousads of dollars.
We need to push back, because if these laws pass, it'll be a slippery slope. Next they will require not just age brackets, but the specific age. Then your birthday. Then they'll want it on the cloud. Then they'll want your ID and bam, just like that, you no longer even own your own fucking identity.
